New Project:
Wells for Schools - Kenya

Help Build Wells like this in Africa

This water well and tank built at the Makivenzi Girls School is one example of the type of water project you can help build. This water well and tank were dedicated on May 20th, 2008 and now bring clean drinking water to the over 240 students and surrounding community.

You can help build a well or other water project in Africa too. Just like some of the groups listed below, you can provide clean water by making a donation!

100% of your gift will go directly to helping dig a well, build a tank, filter water or other water project in Africa.

Makivenzi Well Project - Who Helped

Many partners joined our effort to build a well and water collection system at the Makivenzi Girls Secondary School in Kenya. To date we've had support from such ambitious groups as:

The well being sponsored by many donors.

The Students of Wedgewood Elementary - East Baton Rouge Parish, Louisana

This incredible partnership came about as a result of these students studying water over the past year. As they discovered more and more about how important access to clean water is, they decided to "give back," in their own words. They started small and worked to raise $100 by bringing in pennies for the project. By the time they finished, they had raised over ten times that amount. These school children in Baton Rouge have reached around the world to help students just like themselves in Kenya get access to clean drinking water.

The Students of Denny Middle School - Seattle, Washington

After learning of the desperate need of water in Kenya, these students worked hard to raise money to help build a well with us. It is always so encouraging when groups of people join together to make a lasting difference in our world!

The Students of Barnhill Middle School - Saint John, New Brunswick

After two of their own fellow students took the initiative to raise money for a water well, the whole school responded by honoring them and giving a large donation to TheWaterProject.org. It's amazing what one or two dedicated people can do!

Bethany Lutheran Vacation Bible School - Columbus, Ohio

This summer, these youth, children and their leaders are focused on water and all the ways the Bible speaks about it. As a way to put love into action, they have decided to raise money to help build a well in Kenya too. What a great way to spend your summer break...helping others!

These and many, many individuals who came through this website, joined this incredible project over the last few months. Building the well has been completed!

You can help with our next project by getting involved right now! The sooner funds are raised, the sooner clean water will begin flowing to thousands more men, women and especially school children who so desperately need it.
